The Trick to Get Your Kids to Listen
(Do this and everything changes, especially with kids under six. Really.)
The trick is so simple. Your kids tune you out and keep doing what they were doing for 3 main reasons:
- They like what they are doing and don’t want to stop
- They literally don’t hear you, and/or
- You have trained them not to listen the first time you say something.
This trick solves the last 2 reasons 100% of the time (if you do it consistently) and will usually even take care of the first one.
Make eye contact (with a friendly expression on your face) before you speak. That’s it. If you weren’t already doing this, it will get their attention immediately, make sure they actually hear what you say – and will help you stop repeating yourself. The greatest thing is – they love it! Your children want your full attention. When you give it, they are happy to give it back. (Be sure to get down on their eye level.)
This is one simple shift that lets you create more peace, connection, and cooperation – by stopping the things that don’t work and replacing them with effective actions that actually take less time and energy from you.
It is just the tip of the iceberg. If your little one is running the show at your house, or if power struggles and negativity reign, you’re going to need a more comprehensive plan to get things back on track. If the problem is with a young child, age 7 or younger, you have a window of opportunity right now that you can’t get back. Solve this now, or chances are high your child will struggle with the same psychological issues as you. You and I both know there has to be a better way.
I’m happy to gift you with a plan to fix this, including the root of the problem. Just click the button to apply for a confidential call. I’ll be in touch and set up a time with you if I know I can help.
You’ve got everything it takes to do this the way your heart wants to ~ and to give your kids the mother they need.
with love,

My background
My work helping parents includes years of private practice, many in a holistic health clinic in Utah, and over two decades of classroom and administrative experience in public and private Montessori schools in Utah and California. I owned the school my now grown sons attended and I helped open two others, as well as earning a MAED with a focus on educator burnout. I’ve taught transformational workshops in 3 countries, including across the United States, and published over a dozen books and manuals in both fields. I’ve managed a thousand parents of young kids’ plans to create peace at home, helped gifted children on the verge of court referrals get on track, and guided moms on a path to help their kids test out of special ed and thrive – and learned the hard way how to do my work in the world and still have a life.
